The Laptop batteries is a most significant part of the lapotp. It is the part which makes the computer to be portable. The backup power of the battery is the a main feature which attract the users. But Under the right circumstances, these batteries could overheat, potentially causing burns, an explosion or a fire.

To know about the overheating of the batteries, first we must know its working. Now lets see how
battery works. A Batteries have a negatively terminal and a positively terminal. The electrochemical reaction inside the battery
generates the free electrons and increase the concentration of the electrons inside the battery. Electrons are negatively charged so they flow towards the positive terminal . So when a battery is connected to a circuit these electrons flows from negative terminal to the positive terminal to decrease the concentration of the electrons inside the cells. This means that there is flow of chargewhich in turns called as current or electricity. This flow of charge continues until there is potential difference between the terminals.

The generation of the electrons and electricity depends on the type of battery. In case of
lithium-ion battery there is a container which contains a coil of metal and flammable liquid. To manufacture a battery small pieces of metals are created which floats in the liquid. The size limitation and the number of metal pieces floating inside the liquid are basic characteristics of a good battery. The negative and positive terminals of the battery are separated by a separator to prevent them from touching each-other.

The batteries get hot while using or charging due the resistance offered to the from flow of electrons. It can make the floating pieces of the metal to puncture the separators and which can result to short-circuiting. Now here are some reasons which can further makes the battery to catch the fire:

- Rise in temperature inside battery increase the pressure and explosion can occurs.
- The sparking can make liquid to ignite.
- Rise in temperature can melt the battery and liquid can leak out.

The people in this era need small batteries with a long backup power. These needs increases the complexities of manufacturing the good batteries. So, choosing a battery from reputed and selected vendor will be safer for your computer and for you then a cheap battery.

A CPU fan is a cooling device fitted on the proccessor of the computer to avoid overheating of the processor, so that CPU can operate with in the operating temperature limits.

Needs of the Cooling Fan

Processor is a small chip fitted on the motherboard. All the processes occurring inside the computer are handled by the this small chip. The processor works at very high speed so due to internal resistance of the chip the temperature of the processor rises which damage the processor. So to keep the processor at operating temperature we use the CPU cooling fans with heat sink system. These fans take out the heat from the processor and keeps them at operating temperature.

Functions

- Prevent the damage due to overheating.

Working of CPU fans

A cooling system of cuboid shaped is fitted on the proccessor. A sink system is in contact with proccessor to observe the heat created from the proccessor. A fan is attached on the sink which makes the airflow through the sink and release the heat to the surroundings. The speed of the CPU fan can be adjusted in th BIOS system. A small temperature monitoring program monitors the temperature of CPU. If it exceeds the operating limits then this small program makes the computer to shut down. So that damage due to overheating can be prevented. The cooling system of the computer is designed in such a way that if computer will not starts untill the cooling system is not in the working state.

Replacement of cooling system

The cooling system of the CPU is fitted on the proccessor with the help of four pins on motherboard with a locking system. To replace the cooling system first we must have a compatible cooling system. First the cooling system is unlocked and cables connected to it are detached. Remove the older coolin system and fitt the newer on the motherboard. Lock the system and the connect the cables. We can also change the fan fitted on the sink system.

Keyboard is a input device used by the computer operator to interact with the computer. A keyboard contains alpha-numeric, numeric and some special characters. Keyboard is considered as the best input device for the computer.

History Of Computer Keyboard

The computer keyboards are generated from the typewriters. Christopher Latham Sholes patented the typewriter in 1868 and in 1877 Remington Company marketed it.
With the technological advancement the puchcard system, telegraph sytem and typewriter combined to form the keypunches. The first ENIAC computer in 1945 uses punched card reader for input and output.
But the electromechenical steps in the keypunches slow down the data transmision rate.But with the VDT technology data tranmission rate improved by making direct transmision.As the technology advances the typewriter combined with other technologies to develope the current keyboard devices.

Keyboard Layout

The keyboard layout remain same from 1868 as layout of typewriter. The extra keystrokes are added for more functionality.

Working

The current keyboard act as a small computer. They contains there own proccessor with key matrix circuitry. The proccessor of the keyboard contains the read only memory to compaire and read the keystrokes and Key matrix is the character map layout of the keyboard which can be different from actual keyboard. These different layouts are used to convert the keystrokes into different language characters. When we press a key on keyboard we actually press a switch to complete the circuit such that a small amount of current flow through the circuit. The proccessor of the keyboard recogonise the current and maps the keystrokes on the key matrix in its Read Only Memory.
